Belt line depending on the number of teeth (other plug-in pinion carriers change these values by -2mm or +2mm):
- 19 tooth pinion: 53.5mm on the standard pinion carrier. This allows installation on bikes that have a racing bike crank, which has a lower Q factor than MTB cranks. Of course, the pinion can be used on all types of bikes (MTB, gravel, trekking, etc.) where there is no risk of the toothed belt and the right crank arm colliding.
- 23 tooth pinion: 57.5mm on the standard pinion carrier. This variant is designed as a reversible pinion variant and therefore lasts a particularly long time; if one side is worn, simply turn it over and ride almost the same distance again. This results in a calculated service life of 3 to 5 times longer than the original Gates® pinion made of stainless steel.

Tests have shown a service life that is at least double to triple (around 8,500-9,000km on the road) than the original Gates® CDX™ pinion made of stainless steel. This results in a cost saving of at least 50% compared to the original pinion.

Fahre seit über 12 Jahren schon das Gates Zahnriemensystem und habe daher auch ein wenig Erfahrung bzw. Vergleiche mit den orginalen Gates Ritzeln, was die Haltbarkeit betrifft. Aber, dieses Ritzel hält einfach um einiges länger.
Ich habe auf 3 meiner Rennräder bzw. Stadträder dieses Ritzel drauf und bin damit in einem Jahr jeweils 3500-6000km gefahren. Aus meiner Erfahrung heraus kann ich sagen, dass nach etwa 2000-2500km sich auf den rostfreien, originalen Gates Ritzeln erste Kerben sichtbar machen, die durch den Zahnriemen bzw. dessen Umlauf entsteht. Bei diesem Produkt allerdings ist davon selbst nach 6300km auf einem meiner Räder nichts zu sehen. Einfach gar nichts. Abgesehen davon, dass sich an den Kontaktstellen mt dem Riemen die schwarze Beschichtung abgefahren hat (was offenbar auch gewollt ist), ist überhaupt kein Verschleiß erkennbar bisher. Ich bin selbst etwas erstaunt, weil in Punkto Haltbarkeit machen Hersteller regelmäßig geschönte Angaben.
Wenn man diese Kerben im Ritzel als Indikator für den Verschleiß sehen kann, dann bin ich jetzt schon bei der etwa 2,5-3-fachen Laufleistung angelangt gegenüber dem rostfreien Gates Ritzel und sehe immer noch keine Verschleißspuren mit dem freien Auge. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass es möglichst lange noch so weiter geht..
Abseits der Haltbarkeit ist kein Unterschied zum originalen Gates Ritzel zu erkennen. Weder fängt sich der Riemen in diesem oder es sind die Laufgeräusche höher.
Ist ein Produkt zum Ranschrauben, Fahren und vergessen. Tut was es soll und das völlig unauffällig.
